Jessica Alba’s The Honest Company, a wellness brand focused on empowering people to live happy and healthy lives, is making its first foray into the Canadian beauty industry with the launch of Honest Beauty. The safe, effective and clean beauty products, including the Vitamin C Radiance Serum, Magic Beauty Balm and Gentle Gel Cleanser, are beginning to roll out in Shoppers Drug Mart (and Pharmaprix) locations across Canada now, ranging from $12 to $49.

Toronto brand Vasanti Cosmetics donates hand sanitizers and skincare packages to frontline COVID-19 workers

Vasanti Cosmetics, a Toronto-based skincare and beauty company, is putting its resources toward fighting the COVID-19 pandemic. With the help of their manufacturing partner, who already has its Health Canada NPN and GMP certification, they have shifted gears into producing hand sanitizers.

“Our beauty industry has truly stepped up and we admire what the bigger companies like Estee Lauder and Shiseido are doing to get larger quantities into the hands of frontline workers. When we heard about all the shortages of hand sanitizers, we instantly sprang into action,” said Pinki Gosal, the company’s co-founder. These hand sanitizers will be made available to essential frontline workers in a variety of industries, so they can continue to safely serve Canadians.

In addition to this, the brand launched a campaign called #WeSeeYou to shine a light on healthcare workers, and is donating travel-size care packages (totalling a value of $50,000 per month) as a token of appreciation. “We are truly all in this together. Small but mighty is what we have been called in the past and that is exactly what we want to live up to,” Gosal added.

UpFront Cosmetics partners with Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada

UpFront Cosmetics has launched One for One, an official partnership with Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada. The initiative is simple, yet effective: For every shampoo or conditioner bar purchased through UpFront Cosmetics’ website, the brand will donate one back to a Boys and Girls Club across Canada.

“Being a small business means so many things in such unprecedented times. Having the ability to be able to give back to families in need in such uncertain times makes being a small business worth it. We’re excited to be able to support Boys and Girls Clubs Canada” says Alicia Sharp, founder and owner of UpFront Cosmetics.

The initiative is also an opportunity for the brand to continue its commitment to the environment through a pandemic. Each 65g UpFront Cosmetics’ shampoo or conditioner bar replaces up to 3 bottles of packaged alternatives, minimizing waste and ecological impact, and every order is shipped in plastic-free, compostable mailers.

P&G Canada continues efforts for COVID-19 relief

In an effort to give back to those battling the COVID-19 pandemic, P&G Beauty Canada will donate over $1.2 million worth of products to frontline healthcare workers in Canada. The donations are being distributed in partnership with Canadian disaster relief organization GlobalMedic, and include products from the likes of Head & Shoulders, Pantene, Olay, Herbal Essences, Secret and Old Spice. P&G Canada has also donated 33,000 hygiene kits to local shelters and food banks, filled with essential hygiene items by Crest, Secret, Old Spice, Ivory, Always and Pantene. Some of the P&G brands are also stepping up individually to offer respite. Pantene has donated $100,000 in cash to Food Banks Canada, while Secret is donating $50,000 to support Conquer COVID-19’s relief efforts of purchasing personal protective equipment and medical supplies for Canada’s most vulnerable communities.
