This is not a drill! Someone get Tina Fey, Lindsay Lohan, and Jonathan Bennett on the phone because Lizzy Caplan is on board to shoot a Mean Girls sequel. In a new interview with Grazia USA, Caplan, who portrayed Janice Ian on the iconic 2004 comedy, admitted she “would be an idiot” if she passed up the opportunity to drink awesome shooters, listen to awesome music, and then just sit around and soak up each other’s awesomeness with her Mean Girls costars in a second installment.
“Of course I would want to be a part of it,” the actress told the fashion magazine of filming a potential Mean Girls sequel. “I would be an idiot not to join.” The movie has already been turned into a hit Broadway show.
Albeit, Caplan does have some apprehension in regards to the plot of a potential Mean Girls 2. “But to me it feels like Mean Girls had a really good beginning, middle and end,” she admitted. The Fleishman Is in Trouble star noted her reservations aren’t just about her character, but the story as a whole. “I don’t know what’s left of the story,” she added.
In the interim, Caplan is happily enjoying her Mean Girls costar’s cinematic comeback. “I am so on board with this return of Lindsay Lohan. I’m just pumped,” she gushed.
Lohan recently made her first rom-com appearance in over a decade in Netflix’s Falling for Christmas. The holiday movie also marked Lohan’s first leading role since 2013’s thriller-drama The Canyons.

“She was such an incredible talent when she was working as a kid and a young adult so I’m happy to see that she’s coming back,” Caplan added of Lohan.
A Mean Girls sequel would be so fetch, in our opinion (and we’re totally down to don pink on Wednesdays). But until Fey writes the script, we’re living for these supportive anecdotes from the cast.
