Tom Daley just revealed his finished Olympic knitting project and its so cute

Tom Daley has entertained fans throughout the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and it’s not just his diving that has captured the nation’s hearts as he revealed his newly finished Olympics knitting project. 

Champion diver Tom Daley was left emotional on the podium last week after he secured a highly-coveted gold medal alongside Matty Lee in the men’s 10m synchronized diving. Whilst the reaction of Tom’s husband Dustin Lance Black on Instagram was just as heart-warming to watch. The couple welcomed their first child, Robbie, back in 2018. And Tom could still bring home more medals to show his young son as he awaits the preliminary rounds of the individual 10m platform diving.

In the meantime, the Olympian has certainly been keeping busy as he was spotted enjoying another favourite hobby – knitting!

Tom Daley’s knitting skills have been showcased throughout the past week and now he’s finally finished his latest project. Taking to his knitting and crochet Instagram account, he posted an adorable video of him modelling his new design. 

‘OLYMPIC CARDIGAN REVEAL! ??????When I got to Tokyo, I wanted to make something that would remind me of these games. Something that I could say I had made in Tokyo, during the Olympics!’ Tom began as he showed off the cream knitted cardigan. 

‘I did a @teamgb logo on the back, with a flag and GBR on the shoulders and Tokyo embroidered onto the front!’ 

Fans were unsurprisingly delighted to see the cute final design, with one commenting, ‘I’ve been knitting for many years, and still I wouldn’t be able to make that! Especially the intricate writing ?You’re a legend! It’s so beautiful?’.

Whilst another declared, ‘I think it is fabulous. It should be part of the team uniform for the Winter Olympics. ?’

‘I love this!!?? I would totally buy this if you sold it?’ someone else suggested.

And this isn’t the first time we’ve caught a glimpse of Tom’s cute memento cardigan. The official Olympics Twitter account previously posted a sweet snap of the 3m men’s springboard rounds that showed the gold medallist working on this creation. 

‘Urgent update: Knitting action is back underway at the Aquatics Centre. This time it is a @TeamGB jumper!’ the caption declared. 

And whilst it turns out not to have been a jumper, fans were nonetheless delighted to see Tom enjoying the craft. 

‘Love you @TomDaley1994   Massive, huge, ginormous congratulations on your gold.  Adore you knitting and crocheting’, one person responded. 

A fellow fan wrote, ‘It’s such a good way to calm your nerves! It doesn’t surprise me in the slightest.’

This comes after Tom revealed in a heartfelt Instagram video that he’d made a special pouch for his precious gold medal. Just like his new cardigan, Tom’s medal protector features a Union Jack on one side and the Japanese flag on the other.

Whether or not Tom goes on to win another medal this year, these cute knitted pieces will always remind him of the wonderful Tokyo Games.
