Lynda La Plante: BOOKS I HAVE LOVED

Bestselling author and screenwriter Lynda La Plante joins us LIVE on 3 September at 7.30pm, for Books I Have Loved.
Lynda started her career as an actress, and went on to create some of fiction’s and TV’s greatest characters, from Prime Suspect’s DCI Jane Tennison, to Dolly Rawlins of Widows.
At our live author event, Lynda will tell us about her stunning new book, Blunt Force, which sees the return of young Jane Tennison.
In this story, things can’t get much worse for detective Jane Tennison. Unceremoniously kicked off the adrenaline-fuelled Flying Squad, she now plies her trade in a small and sleepy police station in the heart of London’s affluent Knightsbridge.
With only petty crime to sink her teeth into, Tennison can feel her career slowly flatlining. That is until the discovery of the most brutal murder Jane has ever seen. Charlie Foxley has been found viciously beaten to death with a cricket bat.
As a big-time theatrical agent, Foxley had a lot of powerful friends – but just as many enemies. And alongside her old friend DS Spencer Gibbs, Tennison must journey into the salacious world of show business to find out which one is the killer, before they strike again.
Plus we’ll be discussing Buried, the first in Lynda’s brand new series featuring detective Jack Warr. The book links back to the dark past of Widows, one of Lynda’s all-time greats. It was made into a TV series and a blockbusting Hollywood movie.
She’ll also share the six books that have had a special impact on her life.
The event is hosted by Woman & Home’s Features Director, Jane Kemp. Through our Q&A link you can ask Lynda your own questions live during the event, or send them beforehand to jane.kemp@futurenet.com.
