Wind, rain, snow and sun all in the same week? Yup, March has arrived — and it’s up to its usual madness. So, how do you navigate these weather inconsistencies while keeping your style sanity? Look to the midi-skirt for your answer. While it’s taken a back seat over the last few years, it came back with a vengeance for Spring 2024, with Prada leading the charge, followed by Dior, Marc Jacobs, Fendi and more.
But besides the undeniable “It” factor, these mid-length bottoms are surprisingly versatile. When worn with tights, a midi-skirt can keep you quite warm and when you inevitably overheat (because the temperature is very, er, temperamental), you’ll be appreciative of the access to airflow.

Not ready to bring out all your pastels yet? No problem. Grey is actually the perfect accoutrement to tone down any of your spring-y hues. Paired with an oversized blazer and midi-skirt, and this outfit can work in almost any weather.

Our favourite midi-skirt will always be the one with a stretchy waistband. This one from UK label Galvan is made from 88 per cent recycled glossy viscose and comes in multiple colours if lilac isn’t your thing — though it should be!
Not everyone is a skirt girlie so for those on the fence, the cargo midi-skirt is your answer. Depending on the temperature, you can accessorize it with a dad cap or a beanie and both will be appropriate. For more of a preppy vibe, add a collar underneath your favourite wooly jumper.
