At first glance, the Sex Education star’s look is straightforward: a white strapless dress and red bag by Gabriela Hearst, accessorized with some simple (well, as simple as diamonds can actually be!) Chopard jewels and a handbag by Aquazzura. But upon closer inspection, you’ll be sure to notice a faint pattern adorning the fabric. Not polka dots. No stripes. But vaginas. Lots and lots of vaginas.
According to the actress the gown was embroidered with the female anatomy as a way of protesting restrictions to women’s rights.”[I wore it] for so many reasons,” the actress told Deadline. “It’s brand appropriate.”
And while we LOVE a heavy dose of feminism when it comes to fashion, many fans are also speculating that it’s Anderson’s tribute to the final season of Sex Education. After all, why not kill two birds with one stone?

While aging is usually a bad word in Hollywood, Gillian Anderson at the Golden Globes just proves that like a good steak, good style takes time to marinate. Especially during a time where women’s rights have never been more in danger. No naked nightmares here.
