Gwyneth Paltrow is the new face of TikTok’s “almond mom” pandemic. The Goop founder is getting reamed on TikTok after an interview clip of her outlining her “daily wellness detox routine” went viral.
Critics are now dubbing Paltrow the “mother of all almond moms,” a term used to describe an adult who pushes disordered eating or unhealthy messages about food onto kids.
“I really like soup for lunch,” Paltrow told host Dr. Will Cole on The Art of Being Well podcast. She then clarified that her preferred choice of soup is just bone broth, which she eats “for lunch a lot of the days.”
Because of intermittent fasting, Paltrow explained she holds off on eating until around noon. Though in the mornings, she’ll have something “that won’t spike my blood sugar” such as coffee.
Exercise is a big part of her day as well. Paltrow said she aims “to do one hour of movement,” which typically looks like a walk, pilates, or an at-home Tracy Anderson workout. Her sweat sesh is followed by a dry brush and 30 minutes in her infrared sauna.
“And then for dinner I try to eat, you know, according to paleo. So, lots of vegetables,” she said, noting that she tries to eat an early dinner.
“It’s really important for me to support my detox,” Paltrow quipped — and that’s when TikTokers let loose.

“What’s she detoxing??? The bone broth???” one person commented on the TikTok video, to which another responded, “Broth ain’t lunch girlypop.”
“This literally sounds like a colonoscopy prep,” another chimed in.
A TikToker argues that Paltrow’s diet doesn’t supply her body enough nutrients to even get an hour of exercise everyday.
“nope nope nope so fast, then coffee ( we all know why) then bone broth and some vegetables. not even enough to support 1 hour pr day of exercise,” they wrote.
One went so far as to call out Paltrow for “promoting eating disorder culture.”
“This is promoting eating disorder culture and I don’t appreciate this being available for teenagers and young adults. This is not healthy,” the person commented.
Someone else added, “I’m pretty sure that we can’t call eating disorders wellness in 2023.”
Given the immense backlash and vocal disappointment towards Paltrow, hopefully her followers realize a cup of coffee and bone broth with a plate of veggies isn’t “wellness.”
