Jake Gyllenhaal is quaking right now. Stanford University is officially the latest college to add a Taylor Swift-inspired course to its academic curriculum. Students of the prestigious California school now have the opportunity to earn credits while analyzing Swift’s most talked about breakup in a course brilliantly titled “All Too Well (Ten Week Version).”
The class is being offered as one of Stanford’s Introductory Studies ITALIC courses. According to Stanford’s website, ITALIC is an “arts-minded” program “with each quarter offering unique courses…focused on hands-on learning and have included topics such as travel sketching, watercolor, music composition, improv acting, animation, and digital art, among many others.”
All ITALIC courses, including “All Too Well (Ten Week Version),” are taught by upperclassmen who previously excelled in the program.
The only caveat to this course group is that it’s exclusive to first year students. That means sophomores, juniors, and seniors won’t have the chance to pick apart Swift’s masterfully written lyrics verse by verse.

“All Too Well (Ten Week Version)” will challenge students to conduct an “in depth analysis” of Swift’s 2021 hit single. As Swifties know, the emotionally-driven song tells the story about one of the singer’s hardest breakups.
“All Too Well” originally appeared on the Red album in 2012. However, “All Too Well (10 Minute Version) (Taylor’s Version) (From The Vault)” dropped alongside the re-recording of Red nearly a decade later.
The vault version was also accompanied by a 10-minute short film directed by Swift. It stars Dylan O’Brien, who presumably portrays Swift’s ex Gyllenhaal, and Sadie Sink, who plays young Taylor.
