When you read “Not my will, Lord, but Yours be done,” do you find it encouraging?
In our human nature, we tend to want what we want when we want it.
You may have to read that twice!
It is so true!
Here’s the deal.
Praying “Not my will, Lord, but Yours be done” is RISKY!
We risk giving up things we want to submit to Him and what He wants.
It’s a prayer of surrender and a conscious decision to seek God’s will first, even in the midst of suffering or uncertainty.
Before His death on the cross, Jesus knelt and prayed this scandalous prayer: “Father, if You are willing, take this cup from Me. Yet not My will, but Yours be done” (Luke 22:42).
He was about to face unimaginable physical, emotional, and spiritual anguish.
He could have sought His desire to avoid suffering. Instead, He surrendered to the Father.
We are called to do the same because the Lord is worthy and knows best.
Spend some time with Jesus today and simply ask, “LORD, what is Your will?”
And when He reveals His will for you, be obedient, surrender your own ways, and submit to His requests.
You won’t regret it!
