Rumor has it organizers for King Charles’s Coronation Concert are scrambling to book headliners for the upcoming BBC sponsored event after it was leaked that several A-list artists turned down the job.
Adele, Harry Styles, and the Spice Girls were reportedly among those who were asked to perform and declined. However, the unavailable artist the King is allegedly most distraught over is Sir Elton John.
“Elton John was top of Charles’ list,” a source confirmed to The Sun. “Due to his European tour, which sees him performing Germany the Friday before then again soon after the Windsor concert, he isn’t able to make the dash to the UK work.”
However, Princess Diana fans are theorizing that Queen Camilla is the real reason why the “Rocket Man” performer said no. John gave an emotional rendition of “Candle in the Wind” at the late Princess’s funeral in 1997.
Meanwhile, the source added, Styles and his crew have also been touring nonstop. His “Love On” Tour concluded with residencies in both NYC and LA. According to the insider, the “As It Was” singer is “unable to get key band members together as they’ll be on a much-needed downtime.”
The outlet also reported that UK icons Ed Sheeran and Robbie Wiliams were out as well.

The Firm could turn to American talent, royal expert Christopher Andersen told Fox News Digital. He believes there’s “a long list of American pop stars chomping at the bit to perform” at the King’s coronation weekend.
Anderson noted the organizers may resort to bringing back stars who performed at the late Queen’s Platinum Jubilee last summer, such as Diana Ross, Alicia Keys, and Andrea Bocelli.
Madonna could also be of interest given her recent tour announcement.”They’d be crazy not to ask Madonna, who has a massive 40th-anniversary tour this summer, and I’m sure wouldn’t mind the opportunity to perform for the king,” Andersen said.
He went so far as to say artists would be foolish to turn down the opportunity for anything other than a scheduling conflict. “People are reading way too much into what really amounts to scheduling conflicts…it’s a singular moment in history, and, frankly, just too massive a gig!” he said.
While fans eagerly await for the lineup, they’re also holding out hope that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will score invites as well. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have yet to share whether or not they’ll RSVP if given the chance to attend.
