On April 18, 2022, Lizzo finally confirmed that she had a new boyfriend when she was interviewed by Andy Cohen on his SiriusXM show Radio Andy. Cohen asked her about paparazzi photos of the musical artist out with a man in West Hollywood, having dinner at Craig’s restaurant.
When he wanted to know if she was still with the mystery fella, Lizzo said, “Yeah, whatever yeah.”
By June, the man was revealed, Myke Wright, and they were both red carpet and Instagram official. Lizzo shared a series of photos of them together at an event for her new Amazon Prime Video reality series, Lizzo’s Watch Out for the Big Grrrls.
She went on to later say in December that she and Wright are serious and likely marriage-bound.

Where were Lizzo and Wright first seen?
In addition to that Valentine’s Day meal, they were seen at Crustacean Beverly Hills in October 2021 and again up on a balcony in Malibu in March 2022. She said in her interview that he was at Saturday Night Live on April 16 when she hosted and performed as the musical guest as well.
What has Lizzo said about dating in the past?
The pop icon jokes a lot about dating various stars on social media, and even poked fun of herself during that Saturday Night Live episode’s opening monologue.

“If you have the right person, no, not at all,” she shared. “It should be mutually supportive no matter what that person does.”
In 2019, she told People that she was very independent.
“I’m a single-minded individual, and I really like my freedom. I think there’s a lot of people that need to be in relationships and need to be in love. I want it sometimes, but I don’t need it.”

Lizzo told Rolling Stone that one relationship inspired “practically every song” on the album Cuz I Love You. But it ended in a bit of heartbreak, and she said she needed her freedom.
“As f-cked up as it sounds, I needed that heartbreak experience,” she said. “I’m not sad, because I use the pain so constructively. It’s inevitable. The pain is human experience.”
It sounds like her upcoming album might be a bit influenced by her new relationship as well. In February, Lizzo told Variety that she was “a little bit” in love and that had made it into her work.

How is Lizzo’s relationship with Wright going?
It sounds like it’s going pretty well for Lizzo, in every way. In a July 15 interview with The Breakfast Club, she said that she has known Wright for a long time.
“I have the most genuine people around me,” she said. “They don’t give a shit about ‘Lizzo’ with the chain on. They care about ‘Melissa’, and everyone I’m close with has known me before all of this happened and I think that’s important.”

Lizzo spoke to Howard Stern on December 12 about how she sees her and Wright going all the way in terms of their commitment to each other.
“In the past we were friends,” she started, via E!. “I had a lot of shit to do, and I still was very much in my ‘I feel un-loveable’ place, and I still was very much not where I wanted to be career-wise.”
That changed overtime, and she and Wright became serious when they started dating.
“If you love something and you let it go, and if it’s meant to be, it comes back to you. When the time was right we came together, and we just recently were like, ‘Oh, we together. This is official,’” Lizzo said. “We’re not playing any games with each other anymore. We’re very much locked in.” As for whether she saw herself marrying Wright, she added, “There’s nobody else I’m going to be with for the rest of my life.”
In a Vanity Fair interview published in October 2022, Lizzo also addressed their longterm future. “I’ve known him for over six years. He’s everything,” she said. “We’re just in love. And that’s it.”

To Vanity Fair in October 2022, she discussed how dating Wright fit into her stance on monogamy, something she claimed before she didn’t believe in. “Is monogamy a religion?” she asked rhetorically. “People fight for monogamy like they pray to it every day. I am not a polyamorous person, I’m not in love with multiple partners. That is not me. He’s the love of my life. We are life mates. Do I want to get married? If I wanted to start a business with him, I’d get married because that’s when your finances come together. I like weddings. I would like to have a wedding over a marriage. But that doesn’t mean I was incomplete when I met him.”
