Now that a new year has begun, we’re eager to see which celebs make their love official, support the ones who are dealing with relationship woes, and everything in between. For now, these are some of the most headline-worthy relationship status updates of the rich and famous from 2022.

Jennifer Lopez: Married
Fans were elated to hear that the original iteration of Bennifer was back together when they went Instagram official in 2021. The Grammy award-winning singer and Oscar award-winning actor/screenwriter/director tied the knot in a super low-key ceremony back in July 2022, with a sweet end-of-year wrap up post to give us extra feels.
It seems like JLo and Affleck were meant to come back into each other’s lives after a rocky first round.
“We were so young and so in love at that time, really very carefree, with no kids, no attachments,” Lopez explained, in an interview with Vogue. “And we were just living our lives, being happy and out there. It didn’t feel like we needed to hide from anybody or be real discreet. We were just living out loud.”
Shakira: Divorced
Sadly, everyone’s favorite booty-shaking Colombian pop star announced her divorce from Barcelona defender Gerard Pique back in June 2022. In an interview with Elle, Shakira admitted things haven’t been easy since the split, and that it’s been difficult for her to open up about it in general
“I’ve remained quiet and just tried to process it all,” she revealed. “It’s hard to talk about it, especially because I’m still going through (it).” We hope she finds strength and new forms of love in the coming year.
Britney Spears: Married
After having everything in her life controlled via a 13-year long conservatorship — including who she could and couldn’t date and/or marry — Britney Spears tied the knot with actor and fitness trainer Sam Asghari.
The couple had a star-studded wedding in June, featuring guests like Madonna, Selena Gomez, and Drew Barrymore, and have been blissfully celebrating their love in locations like Mexico as of late.
The couple has certainly experienced a few highs and lows with Asghari’s busy schedule and some adjustments to their shared home. For now, it seems like Spears is happy and keeping a bright outlook for herself and her third hubby.
Gisele Bündchen: Divorced
Getting a divorce is tough for most. But for some, like Gisele Bündchen, a clean break is exactly what’s needed. Rumors of marital strife swirled shortly after legendary quarterback Tom Brady announced he was not actually retiring from football after all.
Since then, the Brazilian supermodel has been traveling the world, spending time with friends and family, and buying up new homes (as one does). Seems like she’s doing just fine, all things considered.
Valerie Bertinelli: Divorced
The star of Valerie’s Home Cooking has had a really rough few years according to posts on her social media account, which chronicle a difficult and very personal divorce journey from media mogul Tom Vitale. Back in November 2022, Valerie Bertinelli tweeted that she was officially divorced and celebrating the “second best day” of her life.
The ex-wife of Eddie Van Halen has since been sharing what life is like post-divorce and that she is feeling happy and free, which is the best case scenario anyone can ask for.
Nick Cannon: Keeps Having More Kids
We don’t know if it’s on purpose, but singer and actor Nick Cannon is really leaning into the daddy role lately: he and model Alyssa Scott welcomed their second child together, marking baby number 12, at the tail end of 2022.
The Wild ‘n Out star has multiple children with multiple women, and doesn’t show signs of slowing the sowing of his oats anytime soon.
“Clearly I don’t have a plan,” he remarked in a recent interview. “It’s honestly just so much joy and so much elation to have the family that I have. I embrace and I love it. I don’t have a plan that should have been clear from the jump.”
