The Chrisley family has a knack for making headlines and this week has proven no different. Moments before Todd and Julie Chrisley’s sentencing was made public, news broke that their youngest son, Grayson, was rushed to the hospital following a “horrific” car crash near their Nashville home.
“Grayson was in a horrific car accident on the interstate and we got the phone call that we had to get to him,” Todd recounted on his Chrisley Confessions podcast. “I ran out of the house, you know, jumped in the car and found him on the interstate.”
“The highway patrol was there. Traffic was lined up for miles and miles. His car was totaled,” the Chrisley Knows Best reality star said.
Tennessee police told TMZ that Grayson was driving a Ford F-150 when he drove into the rear of a stopped Dodge pickup truck in bumper-to-bumper traffic. The accident took place during rush hour on Saturday, Nov. 12.

Grayson, age 16, was rushed to Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital when it became apparent he was suffering from a possible head injury. He was unable to remember any details from the accident.
“I remember looking at Grayson on that stretcher in the back of that ambulance and him crying and the police stopping to talk to me before they took me to him and all I could think of was thank you God because he is alive and crying,” Todd said.
While no parent wishes this upon their child, Todd said they were “blessed” because “it was property damage and not a life loss.”
News of Grayson’s dangerous car crash comes on the cuffs of his parents’ looming prison sentence.
In June, Todd and Julie were convicted “on all counts of bank fraud and tax evasion,” according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Julie was also found guilty of wire fraud. They were put on location monitoring and home detention.
The pair also filed an appeal.
Fast forward to November, the pair has received their respective sentences.
According to Fox 5 Atlanta anchor Alex Whittier, Todd will serve 12 years in prison and 16 months probation. Meanwhile, Julie was sentenced to seven years in prison with 16 months probation.
The couple still stand by their remarks that they are not guilty.
