Don’t expect to see Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds’s kids on the big screen anytime soon. The Deadpool actor was honored with the 36th American Cinematheque Award on Thursday, Nov. 17, and admitted he and Lively are in no rush to see their kids follow in their movie-star footsteps.
“Putting a kid in a business like this, it’s generally not about the kid,” Reynolds told People at the event. “It’s usually about the parents.”
The pair, who married in 2012, have three daughters: James, age 7, Inez, age 6, and Betty, age 3. While appearing at the 10th Annual Forbes Power Women’s Summit in September, Lively shared that she’s pregnant with their fourth child, whom Reynolds is hoping is another girl.

Although Reynolds won’t be enrolling his kids in acting lessons, he’s “excited” to see where their passions and interests take them.
“When they’re older, they can do whatever the hell they want. I am very excited for that,” he said. “Our job is to foster as much interest in as many different things as possible at this point.”
The beloved actor was celebrated by his peers Thursday night in Beverly Hills. Taking the stage to celebrate her husband’s prestigious accomplishment, Lively took a moment to recognize Reynolds’s “stunning qualities…from his homeland” such as his “heart, his philanthropy, his humor, his integrity, his unmatched work ethic,” per The Hollywood Reporter.
“And giving back to the country that gave him his life is critical to who he is as a person,” Lively said of her Canadian-born partner.
“And now I am his home and our girls are his home,” she continued. The Age of Adaline actress went on to list all the ways Reynolds is “hardwired to get home” and be with his family.
“If he came home from set not in his wardrobe, we would be very concerned. Soaked in mud, fake blood, real blood, prosthetic scars, superhero suits, tap shoes or clown makeup, daddy always comes home,” Lively said.
Only time will tell if Lively and Reynolds have an acting prodigy on their hands, but for their daughters, they have all the support in the world from mom and dad.
