Adele credited Untamed, a memoir by American author Glennon Doyle, for changing her outlook on life – calling the book ‘ProBloodyFound!!’. Here’s why it should be your next book club pick.
Adele might have hit the headlines in recent months for her dramatic weight loss, but it seems the singer has been working hard on taking care of her mental health, too.

Writing on Instagram, Adele shared with fans how Glennon Doyle’s bestselling memoir Untamed helped her to realise that she is “solely responsible” for her own happiness.
Alongside a picture of the book’s cover, Adele wrote to her 38.5 million followers, ‘If you’re ready – this book will shake your brain and make your soul scream. I am so ready for myself after reading this book! It’s as if I just flew into my body for the very first time. Whew!’
She continued, ‘Anyone who has any kind of capacity to truly let go and give into yourself with any kind of desire to hold on for dear life – Do it. Read it. Live it. Practice it. We are a lot! But we are meant to be a lot! .. “A good life is a hard life!”.’

So inspired by the book was the singer that she recommended fans read it with ‘a highlighter on hand to make notes because you’ll want to refer back to it’.
Adele also credited the book with teaching her some valuable life lessons, emotionally writing, ‘I never knew that I am solely responsible for my own joy, happiness and freedom!! Who knew our own liberation liberates those around us? Cause I didn’t!! I thought we were meant to be stressed and disheveled, confused and selfless like a Disney character! ProBloodyFound!!’
The singer rounded off the post by thanking its author, American writer Glennon Doyle. ‘You’re an absolute don Glennon ♥️,’ she wrote.

Who is Adele’s self-help guru Glennon Doyle?
She is an American author and creator of Momastery, a blog documenting her experiences as a stay-at-home parent to three children.
Growing up she struggled with bulimia, addiction, anxiety and depression – all of which experiences have made their way into her rawly honest and moving writing.

She wrote her first book, Carry On, Warrior, when her blog gained popularity for its confessional style. Documenting how she overcame various types of addiction, the book sold 200,000 copies and debuted at number three on the New York Times bestseller list.
However, when Doyle took her book on promotional tour in the US, she discovered that her husband had been unfaithful throughout their marriage.
She detailed how she and her husband repaired their relationship to platonically co-parent their children in her second memoir, Love Warrior; which was subsequently chosen as an Oprah Book Club read.
While promoting the book she met former professional women’s soccer player and fellow author Abby Wambach. The pair fell in love and started a new life together. Its this period of change and new beginnings that Doyle documents in her latest bestseller, Untamed.

Like Glennon Doyle’s previous two books, Untamed is an amalgamation of self-help advice and memoir.
