Sophie Wessex has revealed what puts a ‘huge big smile’ on the Queen’s face during an interview with her husband, Prince Edward.
In a rare comment about her mother-in-law, the Queen, Sophie Wessex opened up about what makes the Queen smile this time of year.
The royal was being interviewed alongside her husband, Prince Edward, as part of the Royal Windsor Horse Show, which has gone virtual due to the coronavirus pandemic.
During the chat, Sophie revealed the monarch always has a huge smile on her face when one of her horses wins at the show.

She said to commentator Nick Brooks-Ward from Bagshot Park, their country home, “Going back to the Queen’s winners, I mean certainly I think for her, but also as a family and also anyone that comes it’s in her garden and the home team are taking part just as much and she absolutely adores… she loves all her horses and her ponies and she loves to see them being shown. And she takes such a personal interest in them.

“We’re always really hoping, whenever we bump into her, it’s a question, sort of, you know, ‘how many winners?’ and she always has a huge big smile on her face when she’s had a place, which is fantastic.”
The couple hinted the Queen has taken the time to watch some bits of the show online, which started on the 13th May and ends on Sunday 17th May.

The event had to be cancelled like many others due to coronavirus pandemic, but the team decided to take it online.
Show director Simon Brooks-Ward to Horse & Hound, “The organising team has done a tremendous job to put on what we believe will be a spectacular virtual show week. I have already seen some very strong entries from all around the world, so the judges are certainly going to have a tough job on their hands.
“Though the show could not go ahead in its usual format, virtual Windsor 2020 has really shown how exceptional the equestrian community is and I would like to thank all those that have supported us and got involved.”
